Kalamazoo Klash Super Series Race Format
- All cars will qualify – Three consecutive Laps
- The tire for the entire Klash Super Series will be the Hoosier 970. All cars will purchase their qualifying & race tires from the track. Absolutely no soaking or treating of tires of any kind. You will be allowed 4 race tires at each of the first 3 events, and 6 tires at the last event. No tires can be returned or exchanged once they have been mounted.
- The top 16 qualifiers will be locked into the main event. The remaining cars will be taken from last chance qualifying races, which will be 25 laps in length. The cars taken from the last chance races will be determined as follows:
- With 50 cars or less, we will run 2 - LC races, with the top 4 cars transferring to the main event. The 25th position will be awarded to the top Kalamazoo Late Model in weekly points. There will be no point provisional position for the first event.
- With 51-70 cars, we will run 3 –LC races, with the top 3 cars being transferred to the main event. The 26th position will be the point provisional award.
- Over 70 cars would have 4 – LC races, with the top two positions being transferred to the main event, with 1- point provisional award.
- All LC races will have an inversion of 1 more car than what is being transferred (If 4 cars are being transferred, the inversion would be 5)
- Any car in a LC race can purchase new tires for the main event, if they choose
- With 50 cars or less, we will run 2 - LC races, with the top 4 cars transferring to the main event. The 25th position will be awarded to the top Kalamazoo Late Model in weekly points. There will be no point provisional position for the first event.
- On the final event on August 20th, there will be a B & C Feature event, for all cars not transferring to the main event. Your finish in your LC race will determine your starting position in either the B or C Feature.
- The Entry Fee for each event will be $50. There will be a special Four Pack Entry Fee available before April 16th, at the track office or at Lane Automotive for just $125. We will also be offering a special Grandstand Four Pack Pass, good for all 4 of the Klash Super Series events ($80 value) for just $65. Get the entry form here.
RULES
- All safety rules apply. Refer to the “General Rules for 2008” before starting on your car.
- All cars will have full sides, including doors, front fenders, and quarter panels, mounted in a conventional manor. Wheel openings will be radiused for tire clearance only. No vents other than brake vents, etc. No wrap around fenders, no recessed body panels of any kind. No verticals built in on the sides of the cars, on the nosepiece, rocker panels, etc. - no verticals of any kind! No body ledges over 4” maximum, no concave C-pillars, flat or convex only. Wheel flares can’t extend out past the sidewall of the tire and cannot extend farther back the rear of the tire.
- Aftermarket nosepiece required with a maximum of 8” of setback, measured 15” off the ground, across the complete front of the nosepiece. Maximum front overhang is 45”, from the center of the front wheel to the farthest point forward on your nosepiece.
- Quarter panel rear overhang from centerline of the rear axle is maximum 46”. Bottom of rear bumper to the ground is a maximum of 12”. Quarter panel width at the rear of the car is 72” maximum. Body width maximum over the front tires is 82” and 76” over the rear tires.
- Rear deck length 28” maximum, measured at the base of the spoiler to the edge of the back window, not to the mounting flange or to the add-on piece. Top of spoiler to the ground will be 42”. Maximum spoiler size will be 72” x 8” tall. Spoiler will be clear, flat material, with a 1” maximum lip, placed horizontally across the very top edge of your spoiler. Maximum of 3 spoiler supports made of round tubing, ¾” maximum diameter, attached to the spoiler using a piece of 1” L-angle attached to the face of the spoiler. A 12” rear tail panel is optional.
- Height of roof measured 10” back from the front edge of the windshield is 45” minimum, with no more than a 2” drop. Minimum roof dimension is 45” wide by 38” long. Top front edge of the windshield to the base of the spoiler will be a 102” maximum.
- Full front windshield and a full stock appearing rear window mandatory. All windshields and rear windows will be flat or convex. There will be no V-shaped rear windows. Minimum side window opening on both sides will be 12” tall and 22” wide. This is a safety issue, there will be no moveable panels or certain ways to measure this, we need a minimum of 12” x 22” opening. See the drawing below for clarifacations of the rear wind shape, the 4” ledge, and the C-pillar measurements and location.
- Minimum weight to be checked before qualifying and before the start of the feature. Weights will be as follows:
- Cast iron heads w/ internal pump & 6 ½” deep pan 2700lbs
- Cast iron heads w/ external pump & 6 ½” deep pan 2725lbs
- Cast iron heads w/ external pump & pan of any kind 2750lbs
- Aluminum heads w/ internal pump & 6 ½” deep pan 2750lbs
- Aluminum heads w/ external pump & pan of any kind 2775lbs
- Cast iron heads w/ internal pump & 6 ½” deep pan 2700lbs
- Cast iron engine blocks only, one carburetor, no electric fuel pumps, and no V-6’s. Engine set back maximum 4”. Radiator overflow catch can is mandatory.
- All mainframe rails of the center section of the car will have a 10” minimum circumference frame rails. 2” x 2” tubing is allowed from the A-frame forward and from the rear end rearward. Professionally designed and constructed drivers roll cage and door bars required. Drivers side door plate required, suggested to cover the complete door bar area as well as the foot box area, for added protection. All main cage tubing will be a minimum of .090 x 1 ½”.
- Maximum of 10” steel racing wheels. Track width will be checked outside to outside of the tire on the bottom – 82” maximum. Tires will be the Hoosier 970, which are available at the track the day of each event.
